Silt Curtains of various sizes are fabricated by Texas Boom Company for turbidity control. These curtains may be utilized to keep suspended particles in or out of a designated area. Such curtains with varying depths of 5' to 45' are usually used in the following applications: Construction sites nationwide (keeping the suspended particles resulting from construction activities from flowing into bodies of public waters), various locations in the Mississippi basin and around the Gulf coast (similar screens are used to keep suspended silt particles from entering water intakes, marinas, and hatcheries), on inland waters for flow diversion (subdivision of large ponds for segmental applications as well as temporary curtaining of soil embankments exposed to flow and tidal fluctuations, such as the Potomac basin). Turbidity curtains, at their end section can be designed with a slope to fit any required contours. For fast moving waters, additional ballast can be added to keep the skirt in position. In such situations, addition of lateral steel cables will greatly enhance the tensile capability of the curtain.
